Skopelos is one the Northern Sporades island group, east of the Pelion peninsula.It is one of the most beautiful islands in Greece,with amazing landscapes,with dense pine forests mixing…with the deep blue of the sea, creating a picture of amazing natural beauty. The picturesque towns of Skopelos and Glossa are great for a stroll in narrow streets full of flowers..Skopelos town (Chora)is built amphitheatrically from the top of the hill where the ancient 13th century castle lies down to the of the port where most of the activities take place during the summer.By the port promenade you will find plenty of restaurants, and shops .
The island became famous to the world when the Hollywood movie Mamma Mia were filmed here few years ago. The small church of Agios Ioannis Kastri is known today as the Mamma Mia church, after scenes of this movie were shot there. It is located close to Glossa village.
Ferries to Skopelos depart from the mainland ports of Volos or Agios Konstantinos.By plane you can fly to Skiathos airport and then take the boat to Skopelos.20 -40 min
