Serifos…. a calm charming island
Serifos located in the western Cyclades,is gracefully embraced by the deep blue colours of the Aegean Sea .Being near to Athens it is an ideal weekend getaway (2 hrs and 30 min by speedboat, 4 hrs by ferryboat). Chora is the capital of Serifos, build on a hill, 5 km up from Livadi port. It is very picturesque with great view ideal for romantic walks along narrow paths, and picturesque alleys and traditional white houses.You can visit crystal water beaches in a close distance to the port.
Livadi beach is the main beach in the island, located close to the port. It has crystal waters, few facilities and nice beach studios along the coastline. Livadi has some nightlife activity, due to its many bars, clubs and traditional taverns where you can really experience a typical Greek night.
Livadakia, beach is located in close distance to the port too It is lined up with few accommodations and fish taverns. The shore is sandy and partly organized.
Psili, Ammos
This is a nice sandy beach, north east of Chora secluded and not organized. It provides an ideal spot for relaxation.
Agios Sostis
A bay with white sand and a relaxing ambience. Next to the beach, there is a small chapel with the same name.
Koutalas beach
Protected by summer northern winds (meltemia)is a very quiet location with shiny pebbles and a little sand. Among its few facilities there are some small taverns available for a drink or lunch.
Ganema beach
This is a wonderful sandy beach with crystal clear waters on Koutalas bay.
The old mines in Megalo Livadi.
The history of Serifos is linked from the ancient times the mines that exist on the island and which flourished and gave prosperity to the locals.A monument stands in memory of those who died in the strike of the miners, in 1916, for better working conditions. You can walk along the old mines and see the bridge where the loading and the unloading took place.
