Karpathos ….the unspoiled beauty.
Is one of the most beautiful islands of Dodecanese.It is located between Rhodes and Crete. Due to the secluded location and the distance from the other Greek islands, started developing in the last decades. In fact, the southern side of the island has mostly developed in tourism, while the central and the northern side has remained unspoiled and authentic, with picturesque villages away from mass tourism. An Island ideal for lovers, families and trekkers, as the trekking paths that cross the island leads visitors to amazing spots. Pigadia is the capital and main port .Karpathos is famous for the exotic beaches with golden sand and the crystal waters.
Olympos…a timeless eagle’s nest
Is a picturesque village 58 km north of Pigadia, the capital of Karpathos. The road crosses , beautiful green valleys until reaches the village on the top of the mountain., this village keeps its style untouched by the time .You can find women dressed in traditional amazing colorful costumes.Olympos houses are built keeping the traditional colors and architecture giving to the visitors an idyllic atmosphere. Every year the village organizes a big festival (panigiri)in the main square that celebrates on August 15th .Eating and dancing is free for everyone. In close distance is Ancient Vrikous,one of the most important cities of Karpathos (5th century BC ).Don’t miss the mountainous village of Aperi, once known as a spiritual center and capital of the island. Climb up to the top of the hill where the ancient Acropolis of Karpathos lies and drink your coffee admiring the stunning panoramic view.
Beaches of Karparhos�Crowded or secluded, sandy or pebbly, with or without facilities… the island has more than 20 beautiful beaches waiting you to explore them. Take a boat tour around the island to discover more of them.We recommend sandy Kyra Panagia ⛱Achata,⛱Apella all with emerald waters .If you are a windsurfing lover go to Diafani from where you can enjoy water-sports and explore the beauties of the islet of Saria.Lefko ⛱is a famous seaside village with sandy beaches.Finiki ⛱is a traditional coastal village ,mostly known for the fish taverns serving local delicacies and delicious meals by the picturesque port and right next to it is a beautiful sandy beach, ideal for swimming.
⛱Saria is an islet with 45 residents ,among them scientists who do research on the monk seal, located in the North end of Karpathos opposite to cape Vourgounta. During summer Saria is very popular.
The tiny island , belongs to the European protected areas Natura 2000, thanks to the variety of rare plant and animals living here.
